The director of Tampere Työväen Theater resigned after two years

To Tampere The artistic director of Työväen Teatteri will change, as the one who started in the position in 2024 Miko Jaakkola has resigned. In December, he will become the director of the Kotka City Theater.

Jaakkola has said that he made the decision for personal reasons.

“Over the years, Kotka has remained my hometown, and returning to the Kotka theater feels above all like coming home,” he says in the press release.

Jaakkola was the director of the Kotka City Theater from 2017 to 2024, so he will return to his former position.

He served as Kotka’s theater director in 2024-2026 Mikko Korsulainen who will take over as the artistic director of the Oulu Theater at the beginning of next year.

TTT:n according to the press release, the change of director has no effect on the theater’s current program or the program decisions that have already been made. The software has been planned under Jaakkola’s leadership until 2028.

Jaakkola says that TTT has managed to restore the public’s trust and fill the auditorium without compromising on the artistic level and lines. He was once chosen for the position because the previous manager Take Kauto during the season, audience numbers were lower than expected.

Preparations for the recruitment of a new artistic director will begin immediately. The task is temporarily handled by a dramaturg Hanna Suutelawho was artistic director before Jaakkola’s election in 2023–2024.
