New details: the “revised” Iranian proposal submitted to Trump report

In a report published today (Sunday) on the Al Jazeera network, new details are revealed from the revised proposal submitted by Iran to the US. According to the report, the new proposal includes a three-phase outline for ending the war and regulating relations in the region. After Washington rejected the previous proposal, Tehran is now presenting a new version that includes an American military withdrawal, a gradual opening of the Strait of Hormuz and a long-term freeze on the nuclear program.

At the same time as the proposal, Iran sent a harsh message to Trump. The adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Akbar Valyaty Hashim: “Trump’s nonsense and provocative conduct cannot obscure the existing geopolitical reality. The withdrawal of American forces from Germany, the weakening of NATO, and the recurring technical malfunctions in the vessels of the American Navy are signs of the shattering of the illusion of the White House.”

He also claimed that “Trump recently threatened Iran with starvation, even though global food security and the supply chain of chemical fertilizers are under Iran’s control in the Strait of Hormuz, and this shows Trump’s lack of awareness of the global economic and political situation. Mr. Trump, the world of politics is not a movie set like Jack Sparrow’s. Whoever plays in the lifeblood of the world, may put himself in a dead end.”

• This phase focuses on the cessation of hostilities and the creation of oversight mechanisms
• The end of the war: an ambition to turn the ceasefire into a full end of the war within a time frame of at least 30 days.
• International supervision: establishment of an international authority that will serve as a supervisory body to ensure non-return to acts of hostilities.
• Regional pacification: the cessation of hostilities in the entire region and a mutual commitment between Iran and the US to refrain from attacks (including Israel and Iran’s allies).
• Shipping routes: Gradual opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will deal with naval mines and will not oppose American assistance on the issue.
• Economic relief: gradual lifting of the blockade on Iranian ports, in coordination with the opening of Egypt.
• Compensation: updating the compensation section with an “innovative” version.
• Military withdrawal: withdrawal of American forces from the maritime space around Iran and the end of the state of heightened alert in the region.

• This phase deals with limitations on Iran’s long-term nuclear program.
• Enrichment Freeze: Discussion on a complete freeze on uranium enrichment activity for a period of up to 15 years. According to the reports, in the previous proposal, Iran was ready for a complete freeze of up to 5 years.
• Return to restrictions: at the end of the freeze period, Iran will return to enriching uranium at a level of only 3.6%, under the principle of “zero storage”.

• The final phase focuses on shaping the face of the Middle East for the near and distant future
• Regional security: Opening a strategic dialogue with the Arab countries and the regional environment.
• Joint system: goal of establishing a comprehensive regional security system that will cover all the countries of the region.

We will recall that according to a regional source, on Thursday Iran delivered its response to the United States’ latest amendments to the agreement to end the war through Pakistani mediators. This is after last weekend Iran gave the United States a new proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war, with the nuclear negotiations being postponed to a later stage.

According to the same source, among the amendments, Iran was required to commit to refraining from any activity at its nuclear facilities that were bombed, and not to try to touch any part of its stockpile of enriched uranium – as long as the negotiations on these issues continue. “Nobody knows what’s going on in the talks except me and a few other people. They (the Iranians) really want to make a deal. We have a problem because nobody knows for sure who the leaders are. That’s a bit of a problem,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.
