Sweden launched the first spy satellite in its history

“Our expansion into space is progressing at a record pace. We now have our own systems there. This will give us a better understanding of the area of ​​​​operations, including such difficult-to-observe regions as the Arctic,” said the head of the Swedish Space Force, Anders Sundeman, who was present at the launch.

He also noted: the launch increases the defense potential of not only the kingdom, but also the entire NATO bloc, and the satellite improves the ability to identify threats at long distances and counter them.

Russian media say that the satellite’s task is reconnaissance of military installations on the territory of this country. Let us recall that Sweden has adhered to a policy of neutrality since the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815. But the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine forced it, like Finland, to join NATO.
