US escorts American-flagged ships in Strait of Hormuz

Through a publication in X, Central Command (Centcom) stated that “American forces are actively assisting in efforts to reestablish transit for commercial maritime transport” in the region.

The announcement comes one day after American President Donald Trump stated that the US would guarantee the crossing of vessels through the strategic waterway, which Iran is trying to control to block the supply of energy resources essential for global trade.

The information transmitted by the American Army was contested by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which denied the passage of any commercial ship or oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz in recent hours. According to the regime, these are “blatant lies” from the enemy side.

According to Centcom, US Navy missile destroyers are currently operating in the Arabian Gulf after crossing the Strait of Hormuz in support of Project Freedom, assuring that its forces “are actively assisting efforts to restore commercial shipping transit.”

Trump announced the operation through Truth Social on Sunday after, he said, “countries around the world” requested American help to allow their ships safe passage.
