Grand Theft Auto VI will follow the strategy of exclusivity on video game consoles at its launch

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) will hit the market in November, as one of the most anticipated releases of the year and with a strategy focused on video game consolesalthough it is expected to also arrive on PC later.

After more than eight years in development and two delays in its launch, the sixth GTA installment will arrive on PlayStation and Xbox on November 19, under an initial strategy focused on video game consoles.

“Rockstar always starts on the console because I think with respect to a launch like that, you are judged by serving the main one,” explained Take-Two Interactive Software CEO Strauss Zelnick in an interview with Bloomberg.

For the manager, “it is really like serving the main consumer. “If your main consumer is not there, if they are not served first and best, you do not reach the other consumers.”

In this sense, it will follow the traditional release pattern of Rockstar, the studio responsible for the game. “Historically, Rockstar has gone to console first,” Zelnick noted. Despite this initial exclusivity, it is expected which will later also be available for PC, which will allow them to have a second chance to hook more players.

GTA VI is also part of Take-Two’s strategy of create blockbuster video games (sales success). Although the company has not given figures, it is estimated that it is one of the most expensive video games ever made.

Zelnick does not deny the high investment, at least in the console part. “Development costs have increased more and more. And really our goal is offer entertainment of the highest quality on Earth. And that is expensive. And the influence of AI cannot be resisted. We haven’t seen those costs decrease yet. Maybe we will. Maybe we won’t do it,” he said.

Expectations with GTA VI are high. With this game, the manager has indicated that the objective was “to offer consumers something they’ve never experienced before.”
