Israel announces the death of a commander of the elite Hamas forces who participated in the attack on the Nova festival

The Israeli Army reported this Tuesday the death of a senior commander of the elite forces of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) who participated in the attack on the Nova festival on October 7, 2023.

“The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have eliminated a Nujba commander who stormed the Nova festival on October 7 and posed an immediate threat to our forces,” it said in a statement.

The Israeli Army has confirmed that Anas Mohamed Ibrahim Hamed died the day before after an Israeli attack on the center of the Palestinian enclave. “The terrorist posed an immediate threat to IDF forces operating in the Gaza Strip, and was eliminated in a precise strike from the air,” he said.

The authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas, have raised this Tuesday to around 835 Palestinians killed due to Israeli attacks against the enclave despite the ceasefire agreed in October 2025.

The Gaza Ministry of Health has pointed out that since the beginning of the offensive launched by Israel after the attacks of October 7, 2023 – which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped, according to the official balance – 72,615 deaths and 172,468 injuries have been documented, although it has stressed that there are still bodies under the rubble and lying in the streets.
