French shipping company CMA CGM said its container ship San Antonio was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Several crew members were injured and the ship was damaged.
The incident occurred on May 5. The victims were evacuated and are receiving medical assistance. “CMA CGM is closely monitoring the situation and, like the crew, is in full mobilization,” the company said in a statement. No additional details are provided.
The container ship was heading to the Indian port of Mundra and was sailing under the Maltese flag. CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container carrier, previously reported that 14 of its ships were in the Persian Gulf at the start of the war with Iran, and one later managed to escape through the strait.
