Two months after surgery, Pedro Morisco returns to Coritiba

The goalkeeper was injured five minutes into the second half of the 1-0 defeat to São Paulo, after competing for an aerial ball with striker Tapia. In the move, Morisco ended up hitting his opponent’s face and suffering a dislocation in his right shoulder.

In the first weeks after surgery, the archer used a sling and subsequently began to progress through the recovery process, monitored by the club’s Health and Performance Department.

According to Coritiba, the goalkeeper is showing satisfactory progress within the established scientific guidelines, and the prediction is that the transition period to return to training takes place in June 2026, as long as it meets all physical and clinical criteria.

Substitute was highlighted

With Morisco’s absence, Pedro Rangel assumed ownership of the alviverde goal and once again responded. After a positive month of April, the goalkeeper was elected to the platform’s selection of the month Sofascore.

A similar situation had already happened in 2025, when Morisco underwent surgery on his hand. At the time, Rangel took the position in the first eight rounds of Series B.

In this Series A, Rangel played 11 matches and finished four of them without conceding goals. The goalkeeper has conveyed defensive security and has the trust of goalkeeper coach Thiago Mehl.

Morisco has already entered the history of Coritiba

At 22 years old, Pedro Morisco has already made Coritiba history by becoming the youngest goalkeeper to reach the milestone of 100 games for the club. Revealed at CT da Graciosa, the archer has been at Coxa since he was nine years old and made his professional debut in 2023, against Botafogo, in the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship. Since then, he assumed ownership of the team.

Promising and with good technique, Morisco also attracted national attention in the 2025 Series B campaign, when he finished the competition with an average of 0.58 goals conceded, lower than that of names like Rossi, from Flamengo, Weverton, from Palmeiras, and Fábio, from Fluminense. In 41 games played that season, the goalkeeper conceded just 24 goals.

Valued on the market, Morisco has also attracted interest from clubs such as Flamengo, Palmeiras and Bahia. Despite this, Coritiba does not intend to trade him before the end of Series A and is counting on the player for the remainder of the season. The goalkeeper’s contract runs until the end of 2027.
