Floorball coach legend Mika Ahonen has died

Indoor basketball coach Mika Ahonen has died at the age of 54.

The Floorball Association says that Ahonen, who was part of Classic’s coaching team, had an illness in the middle of the fifth final match of the F-League played on Tuesday.

Ahonen was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Mika “Amu” Ahonen was one of the most successful floorball coaches in Finland. He was about to win the Finnish world championship in 2016 and is a ten-time Finnish champion.

Ahonen worked in Classic’s coaching since 2023.

F-League the sixth final Classic–Nokia KRP will be played on Thursday. According to the association’s press release, before the start of the match, a moment of silence will be held in Ahonen’s memory.
