Sheinbaum disgraces Ayuso’s “ignorance” and the Mexican opposition for giving support to a “worshipper of Hernán Cortés”

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted this Thursday the “ignorance” and lack of knowledge about the figure of Hernán Cortés that the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has demonstrated in her recent official visit to the country, where she met and was entertained by the opposition.

“Charles I of Spain says ‘Hernán Cortés cannot be vindicated’. In the 16th century. Hernán Cortés ended up buried in Mexico because they didn’t want him in Spain. He didn’t want him here either, in the end he ended up abandoned there. So, imagine the ignorance of coming to pay tribute to Hernán Cortés,” he said.

Sheinbaum has reported that Cortés “was characterized by two massacres”, for “being one of the cruelest invaders”, as reflected in the decrees of the time. “They marked the children on their foreheads like animals to classify them as slaves. That was Hernán Cortés, the one who ordered the massacre of Cholula,” he said.

Sheinbaum has promised to publish on her social networks those decrees that address that part of history, in addition to the words she quotes from Charles I. “We vindicate the native peoples. We vindicate that the greatness of Mexico comes from the values ​​of the people,” the president praised.

“In the face of that, what the Mexican right brings is a worshiper of Hernán Cortés,” said Sheinbaum, who, however, has defended Ayuso’s freedom of expression, which he has disfigured by accusing her Government of not respecting freedoms.

“Well, there is such a democracy that she could come and say what she wanted to say. Imagine if we were a repressive government, we would not have allowed her to come, because she finally comes to talk about Mexican politics,” he said.
