Frank Sinatra helped Teddy Kolek get a million dollars for the establishment of the state

According to the tweets, Kolek needed money to pay an Irish captain whose ship docked in New York harbor and was loaded with ammunition destined for Israel, but he was under close surveillance by FBI agents.

During a meeting at the Copacabana club where Sinatra was performing, Kolek shared the problem with him, and the singer immediately enlisted. To trick the agents, Kolek came out the front door and attracted their attention, while Sinatra slipped out the back door with a paper bag in his hands and the million dollars inside. He arrived at the port, handed the money to the captain and secured the ship’s sailing.

“It was a covert operation that required a lot of courage on Dad’s part,” Sinatra wrote, adding that the incident, also backed up by the National Library’s reports, underscored his long-standing commitment. “Supporting the newly established state of Israel was a goal that Sintra supported throughout his life.”

The connection between Kolek and Sintra lasted for many years and included a visit to Israel in 1964. At the end of her words, the daughter shared a quote from her father about the historic event: “It was the beginning of a young nation. I just wanted to help.”
