Israel announces the killing of the head of the military wing of Hamas

Al-Haddad is the highest-ranking official of the Western-designated terrorist group to be killed by Israel after a US-backed cease-fire was agreed in October last year.

According to the Reuters news agency, a representative of “Hamas” confirmed on condition of anonymity that al-Haddad was killed as a result of the attack. A Hamas spokesman in Gaza later said al-Haddad had died, but did not elaborate on the cause.

It is reported that the funeral ceremony of al-Haddad, his wife and 19-year-old daughter was held today at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Mosque in the center of Gaza.

Israel launched at least two attacks on Gaza yesterday, killing seven Palestinians, including three women and a child, according to local doctors. A Palestinian source said that al-Haddad was killed in an Israeli strike on an apartment building.

According to the confirmation of the Israeli armed forces, the head of “Hamas” was killed by a precise strike on Gaza City.

Since the establishment of the ceasefire, Israel has carried out regular attacks on Gaza, as a result of which around 850 Palestinians have been killed. In the same period of time, the militants killed four Israeli soldiers.

In a joint statement with the defense minister on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that al-Haddad was one of the architects of the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel, which were followed by Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Hadad has been leading the military wing of Hamas since the May 2025 assassination of Mohammad Sinwar by Israel.
