The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarellawill go today, we learn from the Quirinale, to Modena where yesterday a 31-year-old hit some pedestrians, seriously injuring four of them. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Melonihas changed its institutional journey canceling the visit to Cypruswhere a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic was scheduled, to return to Italy and go to Modena together with the Head of State.
Yesterday afternoon Mattarella telephoned the mayor of the Emilian city, Massimo Mezzetti, to express solidarity and to thank the citizens who courageously blocked the young Italian of Moroccan origin. Giorgia Meloni had done the same, who this morning canceled her visit to Cyprus, where a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic was scheduled, and returned to Italy.
This morning Mattarella and Meloni will go first to the Baggiovara hospital in Modena and then to the Maggiore hospital in Bologna. Eight people were injured in yesterday’s collision, four of which are in serious condition.
