La Jornada: Cuba confirms availability of its tourist services

Cuba is an excellent opportunity for Mexican visitors, said Aleinor Zerquera Concepción, new Tourism Advisor at the Cuban embassy in Mexico, before travel agencies and agents.

The official highlighted that that nation is consolidating itself as a strategic opportunity for leisure trips from Mexico, due to its diversity of experiences, its air connectivity and the hospitality of its people. “Cuba continues to be an excellent opportunity for the Mexican market. It is a living culture, it is a beach, it is tradition, it is heritage and that is something that today the client appreciates very much,” he indicated when participating in a forum with hotels that operate in that nation.

He pointed out that the Cuban territory has more than 280 beaches and 5,700 kilometers of coastline, which allows combining tourist products adapted to the needs of each traveler. Zerquera highlighted the advantage of the island’s geographical position, with direct flights from Mexico City, Cancún, Mérida and Monterrey. He noted that in the cases of Cancun and Mexico City there are daily frequencies, facilitating short trips or long stays.

He explained that Cuba’s hotel infrastructure, largely operated by international chains, guarantees international standards and product diversification. In addition, he stressed that they work with the energy independence of tourist destinations and on reliable transportation services for urban tours and transfers from airports.

The official recalled that the entry requirements are passport, health insurance and visa, the processing of which is digital.
