Arrested Artur Osipyan started a hunger strike

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that on March 22, Osipyan made public calls for violence against the Prime Minister on his Facebook page, and on May 18, after learning about the election campaign of Nikol Pashinyan and CP in Arabkir, Osipyan went and obstructed the campaign.

According to the report, he uttered curses and obscene expressions on the spot, did not obey the exhortations of the gathered and violated the public order.

Osipyan was charged with three counts of calling for violence against the Prime Minister, hooliganism and obstructing pre-election campaigning.

During the Prime Minister’s campaign in Arabkir, a heated debate started between Nikol Pashinyan and Artur Osipyan, Osipyan asked a question about Karabakh, the Prime Minister responded with insults and shouts. Hours later, the police arrested Osipyan.

More than a dozen civil society organizations have strongly condemned the “obviously illegal, groundless and politically motivated” criminal prosecution and deprivation of liberty against Artur Osipyan, demanding his immediate release from detention and the termination of the criminal prosecution.
