On the sacred ground of Roland-Garros: “This sand, which provides ideal rebound, is exported to China”

We recognize its color among a thousand. This ocher, so characteristic of the clay court, which evokes effort as much as beautiful May days, appears at the end of the corridor leading to the Suzanne-Lenglen court. On this April morning, a small team is active in the second largest enclosure of the Roland-Garros stadium.

Every year, a few weeks before the start of the Grand Slam tournament, each court is renovated with the precision of a goldsmith. Soon, tennis shoes will slip, balls will leave unmistakable marks on the white lines and champions will trace their destiny there.
