Stephen Colbert did not mention Turmp on his final The Late Show

President Donald Trump not a word was mentioned. Colbert also did not discuss or directly hint at the reasons why his show was decided to end. Instead, he thanked his colleagues, the public and the viewers for the past 11 years.

When Colbert said in his opening remarks that he was now beginning his last broadcast, the studio audience booed audibly. Colbert wagged his finger.

“No, no, we’ve been lucky to be here for the last 11 years. You can’t take that for granted.”

The opening monologue interrupted the comedian’s actor friends Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd and Tim Meadowsall of whom playfully competed to be Colbert’s final guest. However, a musician made it to the couch for the last interview Paul McCartney.

McCartney was also honored to perform The Late Show’n the last musical performance together with Colbert, Elvis Costellon and Jon Batisten with. The song was a classic of The Beatles Hello, Goodbye.
