The former English footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoriaformer member of musical group Spice Girls and now a successful entrepreneur, have joined the club of British billionaires, having seen their assets increase significantly last year.
According to the annual ranking of The Sunday Times, it amounts to a whopping 1.185 billion pounds (1 billion and 360 thousand euros at current exchange rates), “thanks to successful investments in football, the food and drink sector, the real estate sector and fashion”.
The previous year, in 2024, the couple’s assets amounted to 500 million pounds (574 million euros): the leap of their ‘fortune’ is due in particular to investments made in recent years by the former captain of the English national team in‘Inter Miami, club of US soccer with which the Argentine Lionel Messi he extended his contract until 2028.
The ‘credit’ also goes to the wife: the fashion brand Victoria Beckhamlaunched in 2008 and long loss-making, saw its turnover exceed £100m (€114.8m) last year. David and Victoria Beckham, in contrast to their eldest son Brooklyn, who publicly accuses them of wanting to “control” his life and trying to “ruin” his marriage, cultivate on social media where the image of a glamorous and united couple, for whom everything is going well, very close to their other three children predominates.
Oasis also among the richest in the United Kingdom
The Sunday Times annual ranking brings together the 350 people and richest families in the UK of all sectors and this year includes i musicians Noel and Liam Gallagherwhose overall fortune, estimated at £375 million (€430.5 million), was boosted by the band Oasis’ reunion tour. Also on the list is Thai-British cryptocurrency tycoon Christopher Harborne, who made an undeclared donation of £5 million to the leader of the anti-immigration Reform UK party, Nigel Farage.
Also included in the ranking is Nik Storonsky, CEO and co-founder of the British online bank Revolut who saw his personal fortune rise last year to 16.411 billion pounds (18.84 billion euros).
