Vox requests the appearance of the president of the CSD in Congress due to “separatist symbolism” on the Athletic shirt

This Friday, the Vox Parliamentary Group registered in the Congress of Deputies a request for the appearance of the president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, and a battery of written questions to the Government regarding the new Athletic Club de Bilbao kit for incorporating “separatist symbolism.”

Due to the incorporation on the back of a map of the Basque Country that includes Navarra and other territories, Vox requests the appearance of Rodríguez Uribes in the Education, Vocational Training and Sports Commission so that he “accounts for the actions carried out by the organization in the face of this situation and explains the criteria followed in relation to the use of separatist symbols in official sports competitions”, as transmitted through a statement.

They have also registered several written questions to the Government to find out if the Executive is going to promote any action to “guarantee political neutrality in sport, avoid territorial confrontations and act in the face of the conflict generated” by the new kit presented under the motto “Gure nortasuna”, which means “our identity”.

Furthermore, the political party led by Santiago Abascal has sent letters to LaLiga, the Higher Sports Council and the Royal Spanish Football Federation demanding that the three institutions “demand” that Athletic Club “immediately remove” this map from all the kits, official products and communications of the Bilbao club.

Likewise, they had already presented different requests throughout the week both in the Provincial Chamber in Navarra and in the Basque Parliament to eliminate the symbol from the t-shirts and demand “political neutrality” in sport.
