The Mercedes duel escalates in the Formula 1 sprint in Canada

At some point it became Toto Wolff too colorful. The Mercedes team boss personally picked up the radio and reprimanded Kimi Antonelli: “Kimi, concentrate on driving and stop whining on the radio!”

The Mercedes team came to Canada with some upgrades to the cars. In fact, the Silver Arrows appear to be stronger than ever before. One had the impression that the Mercedes drivers could only beat themselves.

Near collision of the Silver Arrows

And that’s exactly what almost happened at the sprint in Montreal. George Russell Antonelli attacked twice with a lot of risk. The two almost crashed into each other’s cars, the Italian plowed through the meadow and lost a place to the McLaren man Lando Norrisbut stayed in the race. “There has to be a penalty, he pushed me out!” complained World Cup leader Antonelli – until Toto Wolff warned him.

Antonelli’s car appeared to be slightly damaged. The 19-year-old tried, but couldn’t get past Norris. Russell won the sprint ahead of Norris and Antonelli and caught up with his teammate by two points in the World Championship standings. Even after crossing the finish line, Antonelli didn’t calm down. “If we race like this, it won’t work…” he complained. And Toto Wolff had to intervene again: “Kimi! We’ll discuss this later – and definitely not on the radio.”

On Sunday (10 p.m. CEST/live Hello TV) is about winning the Canadian Grand Prix.
