For the long weekend, 1.4 million tourists traveled through Argentina and spent $340,000 million

According to the entity, the movement was driven mainly by short breaks, regional tourism and activities linked to popular festivalsgastronomic proposals and cultural events.

CAME reported that 1,440,120 tourists traveled throughout the country, with an average daily expenditure of $112,385 per person. The average stay was 2.1 nights.

The report noted that daily spending per tourist registered “a real increase of 18% compared to 2023”, while the total expenditure was 9.9% lower than that year because the current holiday had one less day.

The entity highlighted that cities with large sporting events and concerts concentrated an important part of the tourist movement. Among them, Córdoba, Salta, Mendoza and San Juanwhich received visitors for automobile competitions and the international rally.

The report added that popular festivals and regional gastronomy played a leading role in different provinces, with locro contests, empanada festivals and folklore clubs in towns of Buenos Aires, San Miguel de Tucumán, Catamarca, Salta and Entre Ríos.

Among the nature destinations with sustained activity during the holiday, CAME mentioned Puerto Iguazú, San Carlos de Bariloche, the Neuquén lakes, the Calchaquíes Valleys and the Perito Moreno Glacier. He also indicated that urban tourism showed a good performance in Buenos Aires, where the national celebrations coincided with the 90th anniversary of the Obelisk.

According to data released by Aerolíneas Argentinas, more than 147 thousand passengers booked flights for the long weekend, of which more than 115 thousand corresponded to domestic trips. Friday, May 22, was the busiest day, with more than 33 thousand reservations issued in a single day.

CAME also reported that in the five long weekends that took place so far this year, 9.38 million tourists traveled, with an accumulated expenditure of $2.62 billion. May 25 was the third most important weekend of the five so far this year, the entity concluded.
