Sinner, eliminated at Roland Garros

The Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner was eliminated this Thursday in the second round of Roland Garros, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the season and which is played on clay, after falling in five sets against the Argentine Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1), who took advantage of the heatstroke in the third set that the world number one suffered to turn around a match that he had practically lost.

The main favorite to lift the Roland Garros title will still not be able to achieve his first victory in Paris and thus close his collection of ‘greats’. In an edition that seemed conducive for him to win, with his main rival, Carlos Alcaraz, absent due to injury, and arriving after achieving full triumphs in the three clay Masters 1000 – Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome -, the Parisian weather got in his way.

The world number one had the match perfectly on track with two sets up (6-3, 6-2) and a considerable 5-1 advantage in the third, when he began to suffer due to heat stroke that became permanent. Since then, the set was, first, six consecutive games for the Argentine, and then, he continued to win, also with forcefulness (6-1, 6-1), the last two sets of the match.
