IDF: Hezbollah militants tried to disable Lebanon’s largest dam

The Israel Defense Forces said earlier this week Hezbollah militants were seen attempting to disrupt the Qaraoun Dam, Lebanon’s largest reservoir and a key piece of the country’s energy and agricultural infrastructure. The militants were attacked from the air.

The head of the IDF press service in Arabic, Major Ella Wauiya, addressed the residents of Lebanon, saying that Hezbollah was trying to damage a strategic national facility, the damage of which could have dire consequences for the country’s economy.

The IDF warned that it will not allow attempts to disable the dam and will strictly suppress such actions, and the Lebanese state bears the responsibility for protecting the national infrastructure from use for terrorist purposes.
