Mountain climbing: Tyler Andrews conquered Mount Everest in record speed

American mountaineer and trail runner Tyler Andrews set a world record. He climbed to the top of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, faster than anyone else, he says, among other things Gripped.com.

Using supplemental oxygen, Andrews climbed from base camp to the summit in nine hours and 55 minutes. The peak of Mount Everest is about 8,850 meters above sea level.

The previous record was held by a Nepalese Sherpa Lakpa Gelun on behalf of. He covered the distance in 10 hours and 56 minutes in 2003. So he beat the record by more than an hour.

Gripped.com reports that Andrews, who breaks speed records with his buckle, is known for effectively combining the fitness of a top ultra runner with good mountain climbing technique.

Andrews has previously set record times for climbing Ojos del Salado, Cotopax, Fuji, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Manaslu, Mera Peak and Ama Dablam.
