Iran suspends negotiations with the US after Israeli attacks

“Considering the continuation of attacks by the Israeli regime in Lebanon and taking into account that Lebanon was one of the preconditions for a ceasefire — which has now been violated on all fronts, including in Lebanon — the Iranian negotiating team is suspending talks and text exchanges through mediators,” the Iranian press reported this Monday (1st).

The agency said Iran and the Axis of Resistance, which includes Shiite allies in Yemen, Lebanon and Iraq, have set an agenda to completely block the Strait of Hormuz and activate other fronts, including the Bab El Mandeb Strait, to “punish” Israel and its supporters.

Israel avoided escalating its parallel war against the Lebanese terrorist group at the request of Donald Trump’s government, as countries tried to reach a lasting ceasefire agreement with Iran. However, on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the country’s armed forces to renew bombings on Hezbollah strongholds in the Dahieh district, south of Beirut.

The announcement of the interruption of dialogue for a ceasefire comes after the return of exchanges of attacks between the US and Iran over the weekend. The US Central Command (Centcom) reported on X on Sunday night (31) that it carried out “self-defense” attacks against Iranian radars and drone command and control centers in the Goruk region and Qeshm Island.

American forces also intercepted two ballistic missiles that departed from Iran towards a target in Kuwait. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps justified the attack on an air base used by the US in the Middle Eastern country in response to new American bombings in southern Iran.
