The Lebanese Embassy in Washington notes that the agreement will not end the conflict. The diplomatic mission calls on Israel to refrain from attacks on Beirut and its Hezbollah-controlled suburbs. The pro-Iranian group will stop attacks on Israeli territory.
Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said the group would be ready to completely stop attacks – if this is followed by the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon.
According to Lebanese officials, Lebanese-Israeli talks will resume in Washington on June 3.
On the evening of June 1, US President Donald Trump said after a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: politicians agreed that the Israeli army would not enter Beirut, and the troops that launched the offensive turned back.
“Also, through senior representatives, we had a good conversation with Hezbollah. They agreed to a ceasefire – Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump added on the Truth social network. From this we can conclude that the group will continue to attack Israeli soldiers in Lebanon.
