This Wednesday, the Alicante businessman advanced in the ‘El Hormiguero’ program that Haaland will play for Real Madrid if he is elected president of the Merengue club in the elections that will be held this Sunday at Real Madrid City in Valdebebas, showing a white team shirt with the name of the Norwegian forward and the number ‘9’.

“Haaland has a termination clause and wants to sign for Real Madrid,” said Riquelme during the interview with presenter Pablo Motos. However, the English club issued a statement to the media in which they assured that “the news that has emerged in Spain about Haaland’s future is false.”

From City they insisted that “there is no possibility” of Haaland signing with Real Madrid, because “there is no contractual clause that allows it.” “We are considering taking legal action for the use of our player’s image in this context,” they stated.

Haaland signed for City in 2022 and signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the club in January 2025, committing his future until the 2033-34 season. In addition, Riquelme said that he would sign the Spanish midfielder of the ‘cityzen’ club Rodri Hernández, who has a contract with the club until next season.
