According to his words, he was informed by the top of the UFC that he “did not receive approval” to come to the exclusive invite-only event. However, the champion does not intend to give up. In a video published on the X platform, he said that the majority bought a plane ticket to Washington and to appear in front of the White House to express his opinion. His plan, as he says, is a peaceful protest with the championship belt in his hands.

– I’ll bring a belt, take a big megaphone and we’ll go straight to the fence. If you’re going to be there, let’s go. Not in a threatening way, we will make a peaceful protest.

In another, sarcastic video, he “apologized” to Trump and Israel, claiming that they told him he was “not American enough” to attend the event. His struggle with censorship is not new; during his career, his microphone was repeatedly turned off at press conferences due to controversial statements.

Neither the UFC nor the White House has yet officially confirmed or denied Strickland’s claims. The event itself, designed in cooperation with the Trump administration, will be closed to the public, and the main fight of the evening will be a fight for the lightweight title between Georgian Ilija Topuria and American Justin Gaethje.
