Pablo Alborán, Pablo López, Rosario and Vanesa Martín will honor Camarón “the messiah” in December on his 75th anniversary

Pablo Alborán, Rosario, Israel Fernández, Pablo López o Vanesa Martin are some of the artists who will participate in the tribute concert to the figure of Camarón of the Island on December 1 at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, the date on which the Cadiz artist would have turned 75 years old.

“I don’t study, I listen. Camarón is everything I have said, the messiah. He is like Michael Jackson, one of the artists who has been copied the most.“said Fernández during the concert presentation.

Thus, the event – which expects to host 10,800 people – will have a scenic proposal divided into three acts: the legacy, the root and the legend or revolution.

In the legacy part, Alborán, López, Vanesa Martín and Rosario will be in charge of providing the music, in addition to Antonio Orozco, Miguel Poveda, Antonio José, Antonio Carmona y Vicente Amigo.

Afterwards, the root will be in charge of Fernández, José Mercé, Sara Baras, Tomatito, Pitingo, María Terremto, Carmen Linares, Manuela Carrasco y Angeles Toledo.

Finally, it will be Kiko Veneno, Delinqüentes, Chambao, Derby Motoreta’s, La Leyenda del tiempo, Las Migas and Raimundo Amador who will close with the legend and revolution.

For her part, Maricruz Laguna, director of GTS – organizer of the event – has assured that the Movistar Arena will witness a “great scenic proposal” that goes beyond a “simple gala or tribute” and has announced that there will be original and audiovisual recordings that will make Camarón “be” there in “dialogue” with the “custodians” of his legacy.

Furthermore, Dolores Montoya ‘La Chispa’, Camarón’s wife, has thanked “the great importance” that has been given to the artist although she has explained that he liked to go “unnoticed” so he would not like “so much hype.”

“If he was great while alive, he has been growing after dying. We miss him very much and especially the family. It is a pride for us that he is so valued and that he is an artist in the world. He is the artists’ artist, because they say so, not me,” he commented.

Likewise, Patricia Cavada, mayor of San Fernando (Cádiz), Camarón’s hometown, has assured that this concert is part of a series of tributes that will be paid to the singer within the framework of his anniversary.

The cultural program will also feature the Camarón Awards, which, as Cavada has explained, aim to be the ‘Goya’ of flamenco, because there is “no one” that can be linked to it other than the name of Camarón and his figure.
