The production company Onza will adapt Máximo Huerta’s latest novel ‘Mamá es dormida’ to film

The producer Onza has acquired the rights to audiovisual adaptation of the novel ‘Mom is asleep’the latest book by writer and journalist Máximo Huerta, published by Editorial Planeta earlier this year.

“I am very excited that ‘Mommy is asleep’ can reach the cinema. Novels are always born in solitude and among many doubts, so to think that now this story will be able to have the faces of great actors on a screen seems like a huge gift to me,” said the author.

Máximo Huerta has assured that he is “deeply grateful” to those who have opted for the novel and are excited to imagine that those two characters, that motorhome, that road and the mystery that runs through the story can also move us from another language. “There are books that one writes without knowing how far they will go. And this journey, luckily, continues“he stated.

Since its launch, the work has garnered an excellent reception among readers and has remained uninterrupted for weeks in the top 15 of the best-selling narrative books in Spain.

‘Mom is Asleep’ tells the story of a fifty-three-year-old man who has always believed he was an only child, until the first signs of his mother’s cognitive deterioration blow up all his certainties with an unexpected question: ‘And your brother, where is he?’

To discover if it is a deception of the mind or a long-buried family secret, both undertake a journey of revelation in a motorhome to Vera de Bidasoa, the mountain town marked by the mother’s past in the Women’s Section.
