Application to look up gas prices and report quality violations

The application was developed by the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade. Through the digital map of “Around me“, users can look up information about gas and oil stores around or on the travel route. Displayed information includes addresses, operating status, types of fuel being sold and prices.

According to the management agency, this feature is useful for people who often travel long distances or in times of fluctuating market supply, helping people proactively choose appropriate refueling locations.

One of the notable features of “Around Me” is that it allows people to send feedback directly to the management agency. Users can complain about incorrect prices, unusual closures, limited sales, non-invoices or issues related to fuel quality, fire safety and the environment.

Subsequent feedback will be received and processed immediately by the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development. This feature is intended to increase people’s participation in monitoring petroleum business activities

The application also allows users to evaluate the service quality of each gas station. According to the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, this is one of the ways to promote a more transparent and civilized business environment.

In addition to the lookup function, “Around me” also integrates personal fuel cost management tools. Users can save vehicle information, record refueling history, track consumption levels and summarize costs for each vehicle.

In the opposite direction, gas stations can also update information and introduce their store’s added services on the app such as electric charging stations, convenience stores, car washes, restrooms or food courts,…

According to the management agency, regularly updating data helps people have more information before choosing a place to buy gasoline, while also supporting analysis, monitoring and early detection of unusual signs in the market.

In the near future, the application plans to add additional features such as abnormal warnings about selling prices, inventory, market supply and demand forecasts, fuel waste warnings and data analysis tools for management.

“Around Me” officially operates from June 1 on iOS and Android. Users can download the application by searching for the keyword “Around me” on the App Store or Google Play. According to actual records, the app currently only displays the selling price of diesel and E5 gasoline, but there is no information about the price of E10 gasoline.

The application was launched in the context of recent fluctuations in gasoline prices. E10 biofuel started being sold nationwide from June 1. Previously, at the Government press conference on June 3, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan also recommended that consumers when using the product need to reflect and evaluate to support the inspection and control of fuel quality.
