“Without despair”: Coach indicates Coritiba’s stance in the market

Coritiba is preparing for the opening of the next transfer window amidst a scenario of stability on the field. Seventh place in the Brazilian Championship, with 26 points, Coxa is on vacation after the end of the first part of the season and has already defined the planning for the interseason before the return of the competition.

Before the break, coach Fernando Seabra indicated that Coritiba does not intend to act in a hurry in the window. According to the coach, the individual growth of several players reduced some needs that existed at the beginning of the year and increased the level of demand for possible reinforcements. An example is midfielder Thiago Santos, who recovered after a poor start.

“Today we have a balance in general. We have a lack of characteristics and not of performance. This means that we do not have despair and can be very selective”, said the coach.

Over the first 18 rounds of the Brasileirão, Seabra used 29 different players. The use of the group and the evolution of athletes who gained space throughout the season were one of the factors that directly influenced the club’s market position.

For this year, Coxa chose to maintain a base from the 2025 Series B champion team. The main changes were on the sides and attack. In 2026, Coxa brought 15 new players to its squad.

Center forward in the house?

The coach admitted that the squad could still gain an alternative with the characteristics of a reference center forward, with more posture as a number 9, and highlighted that the return of Rodrigo Rodrigues could meet part of this demand.

Therefore, the tendency is for Coritiba to look for specific opportunities in the market, prioritizing players capable of raising the group’s level of competitiveness.

Rodrigo is recovering from a serious injury to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) that sidelined him in the final stretch of the 2025 Series B. In April, the player advanced to the injury transition stage.

“From what we initially had in the cast at the beginning of the year to where we are now, we see a much greater balance. This tends to generate a more punctual, specific and qualified hiring process”, he pointed out.

In Brazil, the next transfer window will open on July 20th and will remain available until September 11th. Until then, the Alviverde board will continue to evaluate market possibilities to define whether there will be reinforcements for the continuation of Series A.

Coxa, in turn, returns to the field against Palmeiras at the end of the first round. The duel is scheduled for July 22nd, at Couto Pereira, in Curitiba.
