La Jornada: Requirements in government procedures are reduced by 66%

The Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT) reported in a statement that the times to carry out government procedures have been reduced by 48 percent, while the requirements have dropped by 66 percent.

Without specifying the exact period of this reduction, the organization mentioned that it has been operating for a year and a half and that it has contributed to meeting the objective of reducing the regulatory burden on citizens and companies to a minimum, which is why it has worked to streamline 3,195 procedures of the Federal Public Administration, while eliminating 1,582.

The Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT) announced the progress in simplifying procedures, digital government and infrastructure, focused on facilitating access to rights and minimizing the regulatory burden on people and companies.

In addition, the service to Mexicans abroad was modernized through the Mi Consulado platform, which optimizes appointment scheduling through the digital preloading of passport documents.

In economic and foreign trade matters, the agency issued the Zero Procedures decree to grant immediate authorization for strategic projects in the Wellbeing Poles, with amounts from 2 billion pesos or greater.

In addition, the National Digital Investment Window was created, which reduced procedures from 19 to 11, and the Foreign Trade Single Window, which unifies the Tax Administration Service, the Ministry of Economy and the National Customs Agency of Mexico in a single digital file with resolution within a period of 15 days.

The 100 percent simplification in the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) stands out, whose procedures went from 340 to only 125. In addition, the face-to-face service time fell from two hours to 20 minutes, and the resolution of health records was reduced to 45 business days.

“During 2025, digital tools were consolidated and implemented for access to the population. The Key MX platform stands out, with 19.8 million accounts created, and the institutional portal www.gob.mx, which operates with a smart search engine with more than 30.5 million users,” highlighted the ATDT.

At the federal and local level, the National Homologation Model unified the processing platforms of the 32 entities in the country and this allowed the reduction of Civil Registry procedures from 28 to 20, those of the Public Property Registry from 22 to six, and those of Cadastre from 22 to eight, supported by the new Regulatory Impact Analysis (AIR) model and the Comprehensive Regulatory Governance Platform.

In terms of digital government, specialized electronic sites were designed in strategic sectors: water, agricultural, national digital investment procedures windows, cadastral platforms, commercial establishments, the Civil Registry and the 24/7 window in which artificial intelligence assistance was integrated.
