Donald Trump allows himself a joke in the Oval Office to answer a question about the restoration of the fountain dedicated to Christopher Columbus in Washington. “What does the fountain represent? Italians love Trump,” says the American president. “There were those who wanted to take down the statue. Not only did we not do it, but we made it more beautiful. I didn’t think the marble would be so beautiful once cleaned of graffiti and writings”, says the president. The question about Italy posed by journalist Maria Luisa Rossi Hawkins is followed by a question about the relationship with European countries in relation to the Strait of Hormuz: what kind of help would the United States like? “We don’t need the help, we are the most powerful country in the world. We offered NATO the opportunity to help, we didn’t need it. And we don’t need the oil that passes through the Strait of Hormuz. They need it, some European countries need it tremendously and they should have said ‘we want to help'”, says Trump.
