Business jet sets speed record

The Global 8000 aircraft completed the journey from Montreal, Canada, to Nice, France in just 6 hours instead of the usual 8 hours.

Theo Interesting EngineeringBombardier company announced on June 5 that the Global 8000 aircraft set the first speed record when flying from Montreal, Canada to Nice, France (6,132 km) in more than 6 hours. The plane completed its transatlantic flight while carrying passengers to the Monaco Formula 1 race.

The flight demonstrated the operational capabilities of the super long-haul business jet model with a maximum speed of 1,152 km (Mach 0.95) and a flight range of 14,816 km. The Global 8000 is described as Bombardier’s flagship business jet, combining long-range capabilities, high cruise speeds and a cabin designed to reduce fatigue on intercontinental flights.

The flight from Montreal to Nice marked the first speed record set by Global 8000. While Bombardier did not reveal exact flight times other than saying the flight lasted more than six hours, the journey highlights the Global 8000’s ability to travel between North America and Europe at high speeds. Its top speed is 1,152 km, making it one of the fastest business jets in the industry. The vehicle’s long range is aimed at customers who need to travel non-stop between major business and leisure destinations around the globe.

According to Bombardier, the Global 8000 has a cabin altitude (air pressure level inside the aircraft passenger compartment, converted to equivalent altitude above sea level) of 820 m when flying at 12,496 m above the ground. This is the lowest cabin altitude for business aircraft. Low cabin altitude can help reduce the stress of flying at high altitudes, an important factor for passengers flying across multiple time zones on long flights.

Theo New Atlasthe cockpit of the Global 8000 is equipped with a set of advanced equipment, including 4 large display screens, electronic controller, head-up display (HUD), enhanced vision system (EVS), integrated observation system (SVS), flight itinerary planning, Multi-Scan weather radar, feature-based navigation (PBN).

The aircraft has four separate living spaces and a full kitchen, allowing passengers to work, eat and rest during the flight. The vehicle also features advanced connectivity options and seats designed for increased comfort and support. Despite its large size and long range, the Global 8000 has take-off and landing capabilities equivalent to that of a light jet. The Global 8000’s advanced wing design includes leading edge flaps, which improve limited access to small airports, providing operators with flexibility when planning routes.

Theo Corporate Jet Investin the ultra-long-haul business jet market, Bombardier’s Global 8000 model competes directly with main competitors including the Gulfstream G800, Gulfstream G700 and Dassault Falcon 10X. Gulfstream’s G800 model has a flight range of 14,816 km like the Global 8000 but a slightly lower maximum speed of 1154 km/h (Mach 0.935). Meanwhile, the Gulfstream G700 also has a maximum speed of 1,154 km/h and has an extremely long cabin despite a slightly shorter flight range of 14,353 km. The Falcon 10X Dassault aircraft is designed like an aerial penthouse, with a flight range of 13,890 km and a maximum speed of 1,142 km/h.
