An ex-Rapid trainer takes over at the Vienna Sports Club

His name is Daniel Seper. The 35-year-old from Burgenland is no stranger to Hernals, having played for the sports club from 2015 to 2017. He started his coaching career in the youth ranks of the Black and Whites before moving to Hütteldorf. At Rapid he worked his way up to assistant coach, assisting Robert Klauß, Zoran Barisic, Peter Stöger and Stefan Kulovits. The sports club will be his first stop as head coach.

Section head David Krapf-Günther: “With Daniel we have been able to win over a coach from whom we expect further important impulses for our next sporting steps due to his work ethic, his professional competence and his passion for living football.”

Like: “After the first discussions with the club, it quickly became clear that I really wanted to take on this task. The new stadium, the entire surrounding area and everyone at the club are ready for more – and that will be our goal.”

The Black and Whites have not lived up to expectations this season. After the opening of the new stadium, the team slipped into a relegation battle. Although they were able to save themselves and even manage to qualify for the cup, that wasn’t enough for Stefan Rapp and the coach had to leave.

They want to play for promotion in the new stadium, and Seper should be able to do that. A lot has already happened in the gaming sector. Supporters like Gusic and Prögelhof are gone, as is the crowd favorite Berkovic. It has already been extended with other service providers such as Wunsch or Sutterlüty. The first new additions are already here, such as Floris van Zaanen, and more will follow.

Krapf-Günther: “We want to attack at the top and not only be able to record a very good half-season at the end. We will subordinate everything to that.” It starts on the 24th/25th. July with the first round in the ÖFB Cup.
