Vietnam Airlines operates direct flights connecting Hanoi and Amsterdam, expanding its network in Europe to 8 destinations, with a frequency of three flights per week.
At 3:50 a.m. on the morning of June 16, flight number VN83 departed from Noi Bai International Airport carrying nearly 300 passengers to Amsterdam. The national airline uses Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft for this journey.
After about 12 hours of flight, the plane will land at Amsterdam Schiphol airport. In the opposite direction, flight VN82 from Amsterdam to Hanoi took off at 2:00 p.m. on the same day (local time). This event marks the first time Vietnam has a direct flight to the Netherlands.

Vietnam Airlines maintains a stable flight schedule with a frequency of three round trips per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The establishment of a new flight route helps directly connect the capital Hanoi with Amsterdam – one of the most important economic, financial and logistics centers of Europe. Passengers now have more convenient travel options, significantly shortening time compared to previous connecting journeys.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, affirmed that the Hanoi – Amsterdam route demonstrates the airline’s focused orientation to develop an international flight network. According to him, the company’s goal is to bring Vietnamese passengers closer to major centers of the world, and at the same time welcome international friends to Vietnam more conveniently. “As a National Airlines, Vietnam Airlines continues to invest in improving service quality and expanding its scale of operations in accordance with the actual needs of the market,” Mr. Trung said.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is currently one of the largest aviation gateways on the continent, possessing a network of connections to hundreds of global destinations. The opening of direct flights helps passengers have more flexible access to other cities in Europe through this hub. This strongly promotes tourism, trade and economic cooperation activities between the two countries.
By adding Amsterdam to its operating list, Vietnam Airlines increases the total number of direct flights between Vietnam and Europe to 12 with 8 destinations. Cities in the airline’s flight network include Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow and Amsterdam.
In addition to the expansion plan in the Netherlands, Vietnam Airlines announced that it will increase the frequency of operating the Hanoi – Moscow route from July 1. The airline increased the number of flights from three to four round trips per week to meet the increasing demand for travel between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
