The Prime Minister asked Vietnamese businessmen in Russia to promote their role as an economic bridge

During a meeting in Kazan city, capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan today, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said this was the first time he met with the Vietnamese community abroad as head of the Government, according to VNA.

There are currently nearly 80,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in many localities in Russia, operating in many fields from trade, services, manufacturing, logistics, import-export, restaurants, tourism to scientific research, education and high technology.

The Prime Minister said that Russia is one of the areas with a large Vietnamese community and a rich history. The Vietnamese community in Russia always accompanies the country, actively contributing to cultivating the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

According to the Prime Minister, to achieve major goals such as maintaining double-digit economic growth for many consecutive years, becoming a developing country with modern industry by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045, Vietnam needs the joint contributions of resources from 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese, including Vietnamese people in Russia.

The Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnamese community in Russia will continue to contribute more to the country’s development, and that Vietnamese businessmen in Russia will continue to expand investment and business activities, becoming a bridge to bring Vietnamese goods into the Russian market and the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia said that many Vietnamese businessmen, intellectuals, experts and students have affirmed their positions in the local society and are highly appreciated by the Russian government and people. Some have brought capital and experience back to the country to do business, becoming the country’s leading private enterprises.

The Head of the Government hopes that the young generation of Vietnamese people in Russia will continue to make efforts to study, practice, integrate with the country, preserve Vietnamese language and culture, nurture love for the homeland and become global citizens with Vietnamese identity.

Emphasizing that every Vietnamese person abroad must be an ambassador of the nation, the Prime Minister hopes that people will continue to unite, obey local laws well, build an image of a civilized, loyal, successful and integrated community, and always look towards the homeland with practical actions, joining hands to build a strong and prosperous country.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung is attending the Summit commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations and bilateral activities in Kazan city on June 16-18, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

This is Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s first business trip in his new position to Russia. Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang said the overall goal of the trip is to promote Vietnam’s “bridge” role, promote consensus and contribute practical directions, creating new momentum for ASEAN-Russia relations.
