The Ministry of Transport has decided to liquidate the Hotse Israel company, which is responsible for toll roads.

The Ministry of Transport and the management of state-owned companies decided to close the Khotse Israel company, which was responsible for the development of toll road infrastructure.

The shuttered company’s operations, including responsibility for Highway 6 and the Mount Carmel tunnels, will be transferred to the state-owned road company Netivei Israel, Israel Hayom reported.

The Hotse Israel company was created in the 90s of the last century to develop high-speed road infrastructure in Israel using the “toll road” model.

Over the years, there has been duplication of functions between Hotze Israel and other state-owned companies as national projects have been completed and are operating as normal. The merger of the two companies’ activities should save the state 80 million shekels a year in administrative costs.
