“My fighting spirit is back”: Angelina Jolie stabs Brad Pitt

It seems the bad blood is still bubbling between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and Jolie is totally unafraid to throw jabs at the legendary ex. In a new joint interview with the director of her new film Couture, Jolie opens up about everything and provides us with a rare glimpse into life after the divorce.

“I think my fighting spirit is finally back. I lost it for a bit,” Jolie revealed in an interview. The 51-year-old star explained that her children, who are now almost all 18 or older, have a huge part in her rehabilitation: “I was knocked down a bit, and it’s coming back largely thanks to my children, who are now older and encourage it.”

Julie continued to be proud of the close relationship with her six children (Sheila, Knox, Vivian, Maddox, Pax and Zahra), but she did not forget to send a sting to Pitt: “They know me more than anyone, and they still like me, and that means a lot.” This sentence was immediately interpreted as a direct sting to the 62-year-old Pitt, who is known to have been almost completely cut off from his children in recent years, in the shadow of claims by his associates of “parental alienation” on Jolie’s part.

And speaking of the children – they seem to have unequivocally chosen a side. All six children dropped Brad’s last name. The newest entrant to the boycott is senior citizen Knox, who received his graduation certificate from high school this month listed only as “Knox Jolly”, with no mention of “Pete”.

Knox is definitely not alone. Zahra formally applied to change her legal name to “Zahra Marley Jolly” (and even introduced herself as such when she joined a college fraternity), and Maddox decided to legally change his name to “Maddox Chiwan Jolly” for “personal” reasons. Daughters Vivian and Sheila also decided to get rid of dad’s last name as soon as they could.

How does Brad take it? An insider to the player revealed that “he knew it was coming and there’s nothing he can do about it right now.” The same insider added a rather depressing sentence: “It’s sad, but Brad’s strained relationship with his children and with Angelina is simply a way of life for him now.” Despite this, Pete still leaves the door open and is willing to be there for them “no questions asked.” Meanwhile, the actor has moved on with his romantic life and has been in a relationship with Ines de Ramon since 2022.

For those who have forgotten, this whole saga started with that infamous private flight in 2016. Jolie previously claimed that Pitt was involved in a violent incident in which he “choked” one of the children, “hit” another, and violently shook her. Pitt’s representatives have previously denied the allegations, calling them “absolutely untrue,” noting that Jolie changes the story each time and that Pitt has been the subject of personal attacks even though the authorities trying to prosecute him have reached their own independent conclusions.

Either way, it seems that even when the kids are already leaving the nest, the action in the Jolie-Pitt family just refuses to end. In an interview, she was asked if she considered herself a “punk” at her age, and Julie did not hesitate: “I think I’m more of a punk now,” and explained that the fanatical protection of her privacy these days is exactly this counter-movement.

Jolie also provided an extremely candid glimpse into the reasons that brought her back to the screen. It turns out that she even planned to leave the game before the divorce in 2016 to focus on directing and acting internationally. “But then suddenly, the only way to be at home more and for short periods of absence, or to earn a good amount of money, was to go back to playing,” she admits.

The actress, who lost her mother and grandmother to cancer and underwent a preventive hysterectomy herself in 2013, spoke with painful openness about the sense of time running out. “I have never lived with the feeling that I will have a long life,” she shared, “I have already passed the age when my mother was diagnosed.” The star admitted that this reality affects her motherhood: “I raise my six children almost in preparation for my absence, and less in preparation for being a grandmother. This is what happens when you see death as a reality.”
