Osijek’s Copacabana opened: ‘Kopika is the city’s identity’

This year, the famous Copacabana swimming pool is celebrating its 50th anniversary and today it is open all the time for this swimming season. The opening was celebrated because the stage of reconstruction and arrangement of the swimming pool was completed at Kopika, a project that started a few years ago, when the mayor Ivan Radi came to power.

“Kopika is part of the identity of Osijek. The place where generations of Osijek learned to swim and spent their summers. The new Kopika is for the new generations. Today we are opening Kopika after the second phase of renovation. The value of the works so far is 13 million euros, partly from grants from the EU program. This time we renovated the recreational pool with three new slides, a new children’s pool with attractions and sprinklers was built, and two years ago we opened a newly built, real Olympic pool and one mixed pool. Next year, we will green the entire complex with grass and greenery, even though we have already planted 200 new trees,” said Mayor Radić adding that he cared a lot about Kopika because he also spent his summers there with his family. The mayor emphasized that the entrance to Kopik will remain the same as last year, 3 euros per person, so it is affordable for everyone.

The Municipality of Tramišak also pointed out that the renovated Kopika, during the summer, will certainly be interesting for tourists, but also for all those who live in the surrounding towns in the municipality.

Nova Kopika now has several new wooden houses where food, drinks and ice creams are served, there are a large number of sunbeds, umbrellas, and balls for playing. For the youngest, there is also a children’s park. with climbing frames.

The mayor of Gradona has arranged the beach on the Drava near Kopika for this bathing season as well, filled in new amounts of sand, and also arranged the beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, so all those who prefer to swim in the cold Drava can still do so for free.
