Open Gate, 5500 registrations to visit decommissioned nuclear power plants

They closed with the record of memberships registrations to participate in the fifth edition of Open Gatethe event with which Sogin will open to the public on the weekend of May 16th and 17ththe Italian nuclear power plants being decommissioned Of Trino (VC), Caorso (PC), Latina e Garigliano (CE).

The event registers overall over 5,500 membersof which 3,097 participants expected over the two days, 1,949 registered to a specific waiting list and about 500 between institutional representatives, journalists and members of Open Gate Communitythe initiative which will take place on Friday 15 maggio. On this date, the four centers will in fact welcome groups of students, university students and representatives of associations, in particular those of the territories where Sogin is present, with the aim of further expanding participation and involving the new generations.

The visit routes in the power plants

I visitors will be welcomed with two visit routes: “controlled area” e “industrial area“, for the power plants of Trino, Caorso e Gariglianowhile for Latina only one route is programmed: “industrial area“.

The story of nuclear decommissioning

During the visit, which lasted approximately two hoursthe technicians of Sogin and the subsidiary Nucleco will accompany people to discover symbolic places of the industrial and nuclear history of our country and will talk about the work they do every day to finish it dismantling of these power plants and to manage the radioactive wastefrom their storage in temporary warehouses to the definitive settlement in National Repository.
