No more danger: the all-clear after a gas leak at Basdorf train station

After a gas leak at the train station in Basdorf (Barnim district), the danger is over. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) lifted the warning about the risk of explosion late in the evening.

According to a spokesman for the control center, hydrogen had previously flowed out of a container. The emergency services set up a 300 meter exclusion zone and stopped rail traffic. People in the affected area were asked to keep windows and doors closed, turn off ventilation and air conditioning and prepare for a possible evacuation.

The BBK had used warning apps, among other things, to warn about the escaping gas and the possible consequences.
