Reuters: Moscow refinery will not resume operations before 2027

The Moscow oil refinery located in Kapotnya, which was subjected to Ukrainian air strikes, will be able to resume operation no earlier than six months later. This was reported to Reuters

two sources in the energy industry.

The most powerful strike occurred on the night of June 18, after which the refinery stopped working. A large fire broke out. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the strikes targeted a combined oil refining installation, a secondary processing installation and a tank farm.

Russia’s fuel and energy infrastructure has become the main target of Ukrainian attacks. This has led to fuel shortages in the country, which is one of the leading oil producers, and has become a serious demoralizing factor for Russians.

MNPZ is the largest oil refinery in Moscow. It provided about 35% of the capital’s fuel market, as well as up to 70% of the region’s gasoline needs. From here aviation fuel was supplied to Moscow airports.
