WSJ: Iran attacked a ship in the Gulf of Hormuz

The Wall Street Journal, citing two high-ranking American sources, writes that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked a ship in the Gulf of Hormuz on Thursday, June 25. According to sources, we are talking about a cargo ship flying the Singapore flag, which was located off the coast of Oman.

The attack came hours after the IRGC navy warned ships that it would not allow shipping routes in the strait that were not approved by the Iranian regime to be used.

Earlier, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) reported an incident that occurred 7.5 nautical miles southeast of Dahit (Oman). The captain reported that his ship was hit on the starboard side by a shell, as a result of which the captain’s bridge was damaged. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

The UN International Maritime Organization said it was suspending an operation to escort ships in the Strait of Hormuz due to the shelling of the vessel.
