Sun Phu Quoc Airways opens two direct flights to Chengdu

According to the plan, the Phu Quoc – Chengdu route will operate with a frequency of three round trips per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight is expected to depart from Phu Quoc airport at 4:25 p.m. and land at Thien Phu Thanh Do international airport at 9:05 p.m. (local time). The return flight takes off at 10:05 p.m. (local time) and arrives in Phu Quoc at 0:50 a.m. The journey lasts less than 4 hours, helping to shorten travel time and create more options for travelers between the two destinations. According to Sun Group, Phu Quoc – Chengdu is the first regular direct flight directly connecting the pearl island with the city in southwest China.

Next, from August 12, Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) will operate the Ho Chi Minh City – Chengdu route with an expected frequency of 4 round trips per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights are expected to depart from Tan Son Nhat airport at 4:35 p.m., land in Thanh Do at 9:05 p.m. (local time) and return flights at 10:05 p.m. (local time), arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 1:00 a.m.

According to the airline’s representative, the simultaneous operation of two new routes helps expand the connection between Vietnam and the southwest region of China. With more than 21 million people, Chengdu is one of China’s important economic, commercial and transportation centers, and one of the country’s fast-growing foreign tourist markets.

Besides being an economic hub, Chengdu is also famous for Sichuan culture, Xuan opera art, typical cuisine and is the hometown of giant pandas. The city is considered one of the important gateways to access the Southwest China market.

On the occasion of opening ticket sales, from June 26 to July 26, Sun PhuQuoc Airways launches a promotion program of up to 20% on ticket prices on both new routes. The Phu Quoc – Thanh Do route alone costs from 2,408 million VND one-way during the opening period.

The airline also combines services in the Sun Group ecosystem to increase passenger experience. Accordingly, visitors to Phu Quoc will be given Sun World Hon Thom cable car tickets. At the same time, visitors can enjoy discounts of up to 30% on resort, culinary, spa and entertainment services in Phu Quoc.

The airline representative said that the “Resort in the Sky” model is the service development orientation of Sun Phu Quoc Airways. In Phu Quoc, passengers can check in at a number of hotels belonging to the Sun Group ecosystem before going to the airport. The airline also operates the Sun Executive Lounge with its own scent, a selected menu combining Vietnamese and European cuisine with brands such as Eric Kayser, TWG tea and specialty coffee at Phu Quoc airport. In Ho Chi Minh City, the airline connects passengers with a system of international standard partner lounges.

In the cabin, passengers can enjoy a relaxing space with La Festa scent, soft leather seats, wireless entertainment system and hot menu throughout the journey.

According to the development plan, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to continue expanding its flight network to key Chinese cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Strengthening connections with the world’s leading outbound tourist market is considered part of the “Rise to the World” strategy for the 2026-2027 period, while preparing for the next stage of development when putting into operation the Airbus A330 wide-body fleet in the future.
