Ben Gurion Expects Record Passenger Traffic Since Operation Roar of the Lion Begins

Thursday, June 25 is expected to be a record day for passenger traffic at Ben Gurion Airport since the start of Operation Roar of the Lion, with more than 75,000 passengers arriving and departing on international flights passing through the airport within 24 hours.

More than two million passengers are expected in July, up about 25% compared to the same period last year, Maariv reported.

In preparation for the increase in passenger traffic during the summer months, the Airports Authority is reopening Terminal 1. From June 28, 2026, it will again operate domestic flights, and from July 1, international flights.

The opening of Terminal 1 will increase the airport’s capacity, meet high demand during the summer season and improve the quality of passenger service.
