Rapper Doums tried this Monday in Paris for domestic violence against actress Adèle Exarchopoulos

Doums, whose real name is Mamadou Coulibaly, was placed in police custody on Thursday January 22 afternoon for habitual violence (i.e. frequent and repeated) by a spouse against Adèle Exarchopoulos and non-compliance with a protection order, according to a police source.

New trial in sight for rapper Doums. Already summoned to Créteil in February for violence against his current partner, he will appear this Monday in Paris for domestic violence against actress Adèle Exarchopoulos. Doums, whose real name is Mamadou Coulibaly, was placed in police custody on Thursday January 22 afternoon for habitual violence (i.e. frequent and repeated) by a spouse against Adèle Exarchopoulos and non-compliance with a protection order, according to a police source.

At the end of his police custody on January 24, he was presented to a prosecutor and then summoned to a hearing before the Paris criminal court, scheduled for today, for domestic violence against the actress, sources close to the case told AFP. He will be judged there precisely for “habitual violence committed by a spouse, between 2017 and 2025, leading to incapacity for work of more than eight days, as a legal repeat offense”indicated the Paris prosecutor’s office.

“It is recalled that the victim did not want the media coverage of this affair”

While awaiting his trial, Doums is “under judicial supervision with a ban on contact with the victim and a ban on appearing around their home, obligations of care, ban on carrying a weapon, obligation to report regularly to the police station”added the prosecution. His lawyer, Me Marion Coiffier, “hopes that the debates can be held peacefully before the court, so that justice is done”.

She deplored to AFP “the media coverage (…) from the first hours of placement in police custody” of his client. The complaint, filed in October 2024 by Adèle Exarchopoulos, denounced violence “between 2017 and 2024” according to the prosecution. Contacted by AFP on Saturday, her lawyer, Me Marie Grimaud, indicated that neither she nor her client wished to communicate at this stage.

Adèle Exarchopoulos, who had a son with Doums, wanted to avoid media coverage of this affair, two other sources close to the case had already insisted to the AFP at the time of the revelation of the police custody in Le Parisien. “It is recalled that the victim did not want the media coverage of this affair, it is inappropriate to publish any other details relating to her private life that she would not wish to discuss herself”also argued the public prosecutor on Saturday.

Doums is a former member of the collective L’Entourage

Earlier in January, Doums was heard in another case of domestic violence, against his current partner. He was taken into police custody on January 11 in Vitry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne) after a complaint from his partner denouncing domestic violence at their home in the presence of their two children and a cousin, explained a police source.

Doums is a former member of the L’Entourage collective, where he played alongside Alpha Wann, Deen Burbigo and Nekfeu, the latter himself being the target of a judicial investigation in Paris, accused of sexual violence by an ex-partner, but not prosecuted at this stage for these leaders. He also formed the duo 2Fingz with the artist Nepal. Adèle Exarchopoulos, now 32 years old and winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2013 for “The Life of Adèle”has established herself as one of the most gifted actresses of her generation.

The natural actress has toured extensively in recent years, proving that she can be serious, make people laugh and even cry: television parodies (“The torch”with a cohort of wild actors) to schoolboy comedies (“Smoking makes you cough”), through dramas like “The Animal Kingdom” or “I will always see your faces”which earned her the César for best supporting actress in 2024… She notably left her mark in 2024 by presenting “Phew Love”with François Civil, his current companion and another actor adored by the public, at his side.
