A foreign cargo ship ran aground and ran aground in Hormuz

Iranian state media reports that a foreign container ship ran aground in the Strait of Hormuz and ran aground after straying from the shipping route indicated by the Iranian authorities.

It is not mentioned under which country’s flag the given ship is sailing.

Iranian media cited the IRGC’s warning that ships should only pass through the passage south of Iran’s Larak Island, which Tehran says is the only approved entry and exit route for ships passing through the strait.

Before that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand announced that 10 of the 11 Thai ships blocked in the Strait of Hormuz since the end of February have safely passed through the waterway. The department’s statement said one vessel, the Hatthaya Naree, was still in the area awaiting loading, after which it would depart as soon as possible.

The recovery of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, however, remains “significantly below pre-war levels,” according to shipping tracking company Windward.

According to the memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Iran, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was supposed to be gradually restored, but after the signing of the document, the parties exchanged blows, after which Iran accused the US of violating the terms of the memorandum. After that, very few ships pass through the strait per day.
