Car theft in Babelsberg and Teltow: Jeep thieves strike twice

Unknown people stole a jeep worth around 60,000 euros from two car dealerships in Potsdam-Babelsberg and Teltow. The police announced this on Tuesday.

In the case in Babelsberg, the perpetrators first gained access to the property of a car dealership in the south of the district. There they prepared an unregistered Jeep and provided it with stolen license plates. They then removed a bollard and broke through a hedge as they left the site. According to initial findings, the crime occurred last weekend; car dealership employees filed a report on Tuesday afternoon. There was initially no information about the perpetrators. The vehicle was put on a wanted list.

Unknown people acted in a similar way in Teltow: There they dismantled parts of a fence to gain access to the premises of a car dealership and also stole an unregistered Jeep. The vehicle was later found by the Polish police in Poland and assigned to the Teltower car dealership. The exact time of the crime is unclear.

The criminal police took over the further investigation and are currently checking whether the two thefts are related. The Potsdam Police Department accepts information by calling (0331) 5508 0 or using the online form at polbb.eu/Notice.
